The Life
Nesa Nayanar was a weaver of Kampili who lived immersed in the ceaseless remembrance of Shiva, uttering the five sacred syllables 'Namachivaya' as he worked at his loom. He wove no costly or ornamented cloth, only simple cotton, and from it made humble loincloths (koupinas) which he gave with love to the wandering devotees of Shiva, honouring the Lord's servants as the Lord Himself. His whole life was one of quiet, faithful service, weaving worship into his daily labour and clothing the devotees who passed his way. Pleased by such steadfast and unassuming devotion, in which humble work itself became an offering, Shiva granted him grace and eternal union at His feet, numbering him among the sixty-three saints.
